Job Summary:
To plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new products and improvements to existing products. This role involves participating in the development of intellectual property, developing and executing testing processes, and generating working prototypes.
Essential Job Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required for this role. This individual must possess strong communication skills to effectively interact with employees and management. A basic understanding of Sukup products is preferred, along with the ability to maintain accountability in all tasks. Technical skills required include the ability to create and read blueprints and a working understanding of bills of materials. Additionally, this individual should operate with a high degree of professionalism.
Preferred Skills:
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software as well as Product Data Management (PDM) software.
Job Duties:
- Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new products and existing product improvements
- Participate in the development of intellectual property
- Help develop testing processes, have hands on the process of testing and validation of new designs
- Participate in the generation of working prototypes for testing and potential applications
- Perform and document engineering calculations to support own design work
- Prepare engineering documents such as design layouts, diagrams, and schematics of components and assemblies
- Provide updates and detailed documentation to track project development an design process
- Check and maintain accurate bills of material
- Collaborate with engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors as needed in product development processes and in support of company function
- Work on projects at a level to ensure the project timelines are met
- Perform engineering-related tasks as required such as production support, customer support, layout function and validation, and supplier contact
- Check own work to ensure accuracy of spelling, drawing format and organization, dimension and tolerance convention, and conformance with engineering standards
